What are hydrolates?
Hydrolates, formerly also known as vegetable waters, floral waters or aromatic waters, are by-products of the steam distillation of plants or their parts.
They arise as condensate during the cooling of the distillation steam and z. T. repeatedly recycled in the distillation process. Hydrolates contain the water-soluble plant ingredients, in traces also suspended essential oils.
Hydrolates have similar effects as the corresponding essential oils, but have a milder effect and - depending on the different ingredients - may also differ slightly from the effects of the essential oils.
